Reported recently: Aldy Milliken, will step down as KMAC Museum’s executive director after eight years in this month. KMAC is conducting a national search to fill the role for the next executive director. and Louisville Visual Art announces Kristian Anderson as its new Executive Director. Anderson was most recently the Senior Policy Advisor for Arts and Culture for Salt Lake City's Mayor. This news comes on the heels of a flurry of other leadership changes within the past two years including at the Portland Museum, the Carnegie Center for Art and History, and the Speed Art Museum. Portland, the Carnegie, and the Speed hired local leaders. LVA and KMAC have or are looking outside of the local community. How valuable is it for art organization leaders to have connections to the local community? Is bringing in someone who isn't from here more valuable because they bring new ideas and fresh perspectives with them?
